Newsletter issue #7: Productive Attitude
Last week, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the world of personal growth and high performance at a Coaching Summit in Austin, TX with some of the top global experts in the field.
Inspired by the conversation, I thought I must share some key insights with you as they relate to your high performance journey.
Read time: 3.2 minutes
Big Idea #1: Don’t be a B-player on a C-level field.
In a world where distraction, comparison, and just-enoughness are the norm, it's easy to settle for mediocrity.
Result:
Everybody complains about the opportunities they don’t have.
…as well as the ones they do have.
Want A-level opportunities?
Stop playing in your zone of comfort.
Get in the game that will challenge you the right amount.
Let it build you up.
So when the opportunity arrives and when you are being called up to serve on an A-level field…
You are not complaining about it!
You are ready.
If you want to be the best, you have to do things that other people aren’t willing to do.
Big Idea #2: Adopt the role model mindset.
Especially during turbulent times…
It is so easy to give up.
But before you do, consider this…
Someone is watching you.
Your kid is watching how you handle it.
Your team is watching how you overcome it.
Someone is always watching how you deal with it.
Don’t underestimate how much influence you have on everyone around you.
Now it is up to you if you want it to be a positive or negative influence.
Whatever you do, be conscious of your behaviour.
Because whatever behaviour you project,
you are teaching it to someone else.
What behaviour would you want to see more of in this world?
Lead by example.
Big Idea #3: The journey is the destination.
The future moment where finally everything you’ve ever wanted is yours and you have nothing else to wish for is an illusion.
There will always be a next level you are striving for.
Meaningful pursuit is key if you want to live a fulfilling life.
You must find something meaningful to work towards today, nor should you ever stop chasing such projects.
Happiness is always created in the present.
If you don’t enjoy the path towards your dream life, you won’t enjoy the path in your dream life.
The journey is the destination.
You have arrived.
“Know that wherever you are in your life right now is both temporary, and exactly where you are supposed to be.
You have arrived at this moment to learn what you must learn, so you can become the person you need to be to create the life you truly want.
Even when life is difficult or challenging-especially when life is difficult and challenging-the present is always an opportunity for us to learn, grow, and become better than we've ever been before.”
Tiny Habit: Write down your negative thoughts as soon as they arrive.
Notice a discouraging thought?
Good. Write it down. Anywhere.
It helps externalize it. The thought is just that. The thought is not you.
You will quickly connect the dots.
“Hm, 10 minutes after I wrote down that discouraging thought, I was browsing youtube videos to escape instead of doing the work.”
By seeing the impact they have on your happiness, productivity, and relationships, you will see the immediate need to work on this.Self-awareness.
Knowing what they are, you can now work on changing them.
What are empowering thoughts you would rather have?
How are those thoughts already true in your life?
The Productivist Question
Such an important question, it is easy to ignore it because you see it everywhere.
I met 50+ people in the last few days, this question was the start of each and every conversation.
So if you don’t see it everywhere, make sure you do from now on.
What are you grateful for?
There is no limit to how many times you can think about it every day.
Be intentional with having this question in your journaling or mindfulness practice every day.
Focus on the feeling.
This is the path to happiness.
…To appreciate the small things in life.
Because what we appreciate - appreciates.
Until next week,
Valeriya
